With its top-rated international schools, convenient MRT and BTS stations, and plethora of food experiences, Lasalle is a great Bangkok suburb to call home.
It might not be in the heart of the city, but you can get similar experiences for nearly half the cost.
That said, in this guide you’re going to discover what makes Lasalle one of Bangkok’s best-kept secrets and whether you’d like to live here.

Location
Although there are no hard boundaries that define where Lasalle begins and ends, we can say it’s located in the southernmost part of Bangkok’s Bang Na district. It runs from east to west starting just beyond Srinakarin Road all the way to Sukhumvit Road.
From north to south, the area includes Sukhumvit 105 Road to Bearing Road. In most cases, though, when we talk about Lasalle, we are referring to Sukhumvit 105 (Lasalle Road) and everything branching off of it.
Both the BTS Sukhumvit Line and MRT Yellow Line pass through Lasalle, and it’s close to Bangna-Trad Road and an entrance to the Bangna-Chon Buri Expressway. This makes it easy to get to Bangkok’s city center and other provinces.
Pros and Cons of Living in Lasalle
No matter who in Lasalle you talk to, they will have their favorite things about the area. That said, below are some of my pros and cons, having lived in Lasalle for nearly 10 years.
Pros
- Convenience: You can get into Bangkok easily by either MRT or BTS. You can get to nearby highway entrances within minutes.
- Food options: No matter what your food preference is, you’ll be able to find restaurants, markets, or grocery stores that carry what you enjoy. (More on this later.)
- Indoor activities: Central Bangna, Paradise Park, Seacon Square, and Mega Bangna malls are all 10 minutes away and offer a variety of indoor activities, such as movie theaters, arcades, art galleries, co-working spaces, and more.
- Outdoor activities: Rama IX Park and Nong Bon Water Park are both only a few minutes away from Lasalle by car or taxi. Here, you can rent paddle boats, ride bikes, use the outdoor exercise equipment, play basketball, and do much more.
- Diversity: Lasalle is home to many different people, including Thais, Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, Cambodians, Laoations, Americans, British, Australian, and more. Because of this, you and your children can make friends with many different people.
Cons
- Lack of larger accommodations: Most of the condos developments around Lasalle are newer, and newer usually means smaller. It’s more challenging to find two-bedroom units compared to some of the older developments in Bangkok.
- Far from central Bangkok: It could take up to an hour to get into central Bangkok, sometimes more if the traffic to the BTS Sukhumvit Line is heavy. So you always have to plan ahead when going into the city.
- Traffic: Lasalle is made up of four main roads — Sukhumvit Road, Lasalle Road, Srinakarin Road, and Bearing Road. During rush hour, all of these major roads become congested with traffic, making it challenging to run errands or travel locally.
- Minor flooding: During the rainy season, Srinakarin Road and certain parts of Lasalle Road do flood, and that creates a bit of traffic and may even make it impossible to leave your residence. This is especially true for the east end of Lasalle Road near Srikarin Hospital.
Renting in Lasalle
Like the rest of Bangkok, Lasalle offers a variety of rental options. You can rent a detached house in a gated community, a townhouse in a secure development, or a condo or serviced apartment with 24-hour security. These rentals also come in a range of prices, suitable for all budgets.

Modern, Small Condos in Lasalle
Most of the newer condos built or being built around Lasalle have studio or one-bedroom units. In fact, it’s getting harder and harder to find two-bedroom units around Lasalle unless you look in older developments.
- NUE Noble Srinakarin: THB8,000+ per month for a 25-square-meter studio
- Notting Hill Sukhumvit 105: THB9,000+ per month for a 28-square-meter one bedroom
- The Excel Bearing Lasalle 11: THB7,000+ per month for a 26-square-meter one bedroom
- Aspen Condo Lasalle: THB8,000 per month for a 24-square-meter studio
Older, Larger Condos in Lasalle
Lasalle does have a few older buildings that offer larger condos and serviced apartments for rent. The sizes of these units are usually bigger than newer developments, coming in spacious one-bedroom or two-bedroom layouts.
- Lasalle Park Serviced Apartments: THB22,000+ for a 68-square-meter two-bedroom unit
- The Parkland Srinakarin: THB15,000+ for a 64-square-meter two-bedroom unit
- Lumpini Ville Lasalle: THB15,000+ for a 58-square-meter two-bedroom unit
Townhouses and Detached Houses in Gated Communities
On Nut has the space to spread out compared to more tightly-packed suburbs. If you have a family, you can get a large house for a great price.
- Loft Lane Lasalle: A townhome community located near Srinakarin Road. Although these townhomes aren’t always listed for rent online, some of them may have “For Rent” signs on their property. Expect to pay in the high teens per month for these townhomes.
- Tepp Town Lasalle 36: A townhouse community located in between Sukhumvit 105 Road and Bearing Road. Monthly rental prices start in the high teens.
- Prukpirom Regent Sukhumvit: A community of multi-million-baht detached homes. You’ll have to contact an owner directly to rent one of these houses.
- Pitchaya Lasalle: A small gated community of detached houses off Klong Nong Bua Road. Rent starts at around THB25,000 in this community.
Budget Rentals in Lasalle
If you’re after a barebones setup, you will find a bunch of cheap condos and apartments around Lasalle. Some of them, however, won’t rent to non-Thais. So you might have to spend some time looking around before you lock in a rental. The only one that has high enough ratings to mention is the one below:
- City Home Srinakarin: Studio units starting at THB5,000 per month
Where to Eat Around Lasalle
Lasalle is a foodie’s paradise. Many people from around Bangkok come to Lasalle to indulge in the variety of food the area has to offer.
Street Food
Lasalle only has one major area that offers street food on a daily basis, and that’s along Klong Nong Bua Road. Here, you’ll find everything from Japanese takoyaki to grilled chicken and papaya salad.
Because these street food stands aren’t located in the center of Bangkok, the food is also cheaper. Here, you can still get a plate of food for THB60.
Noodle Shops
Lasalle is home to many noodle shops, the most famous being Mr. Bee Braised Beef Noodle Shop. People come from all over Bangkok to spoon this famous meat and broth into their mouths. And prices range from only THB50 to THB60 per bowl for a standard serving and THB80 for the special size.
Restaurants
Around Lasalle, your options for indoor dining are endless. And the best part? You can find a variety of cuisines from all around Asia and beyond. Here are some of my favorites.
- La Maison By Chef Billy: La Maison has a variety of Western dishes, including gourmet burgers, sweet potato fries, and more. One of my favorite dishes is the La Masion mala burger. THB200+ per person.
- Tehwada Noodles Srinakarin: This restaurant is famous for it’s khao ka muu (pork leg and rice). But they also serve muu daeng (red pork and rice) and muu satay (pork sticks). I recommend the khao ka muu. THB70+ per person.
- Flavors Of India: It has some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had, and the owner is a class act. The garlic naan bread and chicken masala always hit the spot. THB200+ per person.
- Wine Connection Lasalle’s Avenue: Sure, Wine Connection is a chain restaurant, but they plate a delicious lasagna. You can never go wrong with the pizza either. THB300+ per person.
- Momotaro Japanese BBQ: If you want to grill your own food Japanese style, this is the place to go. But prices are a little more expensive than your typical Korean BBQ in Bangkok. THB500 per person.
- Sushi Dai: This is my go-to restaurant for sushi. The service is great and the fish is fresh. I’ve never had a bad experience here. The Philadelphia roll and crunchy spicy salmon roll are my top choices. THB200+ per person.
Drinking in Lasalle
I’m not much of a drinker anymore, but over the years I’ve had my fair share of beers around Lasalle. That said, it seems to me that all the hang-out spots around Lasalle are in the same area, mostly at the junction of Srinakarin Road and Klong Nong Bua Road. Whether Thai, Korean, Japanese, or Westerner, everyone congregates at these spots.
- Memory 90’s: This place is very popular with Thais who grew up in the 90s and want to listen to a bit of nostalgic music. It’s not too popular with Westerners though.
- NTX Non Toxic: This bar and restaurant is packed every night and tends to draw a crowd of people in their late 20s to early 30s.
- Nakayoshi: Nakayoshi in Japanese means good friend, and this hang-out spot is a great place to make friends with other Westerners or Thais over a beer or two.
- Kinizakaya: Kinizakaya is next to Nakayoshi and offers the same general services, except the ambiance is a bit more chill.
- HopfAddict Si Lasalle: HopfAddict is the newest addition to the local hang-out scene around Lasalle. It services German beers and food, mixed in with a little Thai cuisine as well.
Buying Groceries Around Lasalle
Lasalle has a solid mix of local outdoor markets and big-chain supermarkets, making it easy to find groceries no matter your preference.
- Lasalle 48 Weekly Market: Although this is labeled a weekly market, it’s actually a daily market. From fruits and vegetables to cooked food, vendors here sell everything you’d expect from a Thai market.
- Lasalle 2K Market: It’s best to visit this market early in the morning to get first dibs on all the best produce. What I like about buying groceries from here is that you can spend THB200 and leave with a few bags worth of goods.
- Thai House Market: This market is only open on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. You won’t have much selection for fresh fruits and vegetables because most vendors sell cooked foods for the night crowd getting off of work. Two of my favorite vendors here are the coconut smoothie and grilled fish stands.
- Makro Srinakarin: Makro offers bulk goods for low prices. But because everything tends to be cheaper here, I am a bit skeptical on the quality of its meat selection. Still, it’s a good place to stock up on bulk dry goods, especially if you have a family. Aside from bulk toilet paper and the like, I like Makro’s selection of shellfish, particularly soft shell crabs and clams.
- Big-C Srinakarin: This is your typical Big-C, complete with groceries, clothes, and household goods. Prices here tend to be a bit cheaper than Villa Market, but slightly more expensive than outdoor markets.
- Foodland Srinakarin: This grocery store carries a mix of Thai and Western foods at decent prices. In fact, Foodland tends to be cheaper than Villa Market, and its selection and quality are on par. A few of my favorite picks from Foodland are the cod fish and pickles.
- Villa Market: Villa Market is one of the most popular grocery stores for expats in Bangkok, and luckily Lasalle has one on Bearing-Lasalle Road. You can get everything you need here to cook the foods you’d typically eat back home. Just be prepared to pay premium prices for most imported goods. This is where I generally go for canned goods like tuna and mackerel, tomato sauces, and pasta and breads.
Transportation Options for Lasalle
Lasalle isn’t a very large area compared to other neighborhoods in Bangkok, but you can get from one side to the other and to other parts of the city by a few different ways.
BTS Sukhumvit Line
Depending on where around Lasalle you live, you can get to the BTS Bearing station in under 15 minutes with no traffic. From here, you can be in the city center in under 30 minutes, starting at THB45. Or you can go further into Samut Prakan for an additional THB15 to THB30.
MRT Yellow Line
MRT Yellow line is about THB15 per stop. If you’re closer to Srinakarin Road, you can take MRT Sri Lasalle station either to northern Bangkok or the BTS Samrong station. From here, you can then transfer onto the BTS line to get into the city.
This isn’t always convenient though because you have to go further away from Bangkok to get onto the BTS. But when traffic is too bad to travel down Sukhumvit 105 Road by taxi to get to BTS Bearing, it’s a good option.
Motorbike Taxis
Many people get back and forth in Lasalle by motorbike taxi. The most you’ll spend from one side of Lasalle to the other is THB80. You can find these motorbike taxi stations near the BTS and MRT stations and along Sukhumvit 105 Road.
Songthaews
Surprisingly, Lasalle doesn’t have a dedicated Songthaew. But it does have a one free shuttle truck (looks like a giant songthaew) that runs up and down Sukhumvit 105 Road throughout the day. It’s good to use if you’re not in a rush and it’s not too hot outside, as it’s slow and exposed to the elements.
Taxis and Grab
Taxis run up and down Sukhumvit 105 Road all day and night. During rush hour, though, it can get hard to find a vacant taxi, as many people have already caught them. In this case, you might want to book a Grab.
Buses
Bus 3-18 and all of its variants run up and down Srinakarin Road. You can catch the bus at the Srinakarin Road and Sukhumvit 105 Road junction. The bus traveling inbound toward Bangkok is on the northwestern side of the junction, while the bus traveling outbound toward Samut Prakan is on the southeast side of the junction.-

Healthcare in Lasalle
Whether you need emergency medical care or the occasional health checkup, Lasalle has you covered.

Hospitals
Because Lasalle covers such a small area, there is only one hospital in the vicinity, and that’s a private hospital at the far east end of Lasalle.
- Srikarin Hospital: Although Srikarin Hospital isn’t my first choice for healthcare, me and my family have been there for emergency visits, and it serves its purpose. The prices tend to be on par with other private hospitals in Bangkok, but every time I visit Srikarin I get the impression that staff are trying to sell me services I don’t really need.

Clinics
If you have a minor injury or illness, you can visit one of the clinics in Lasalle instead of a hospital.
- Mitmuanchon Clinic Lasalle: This clinic is popular with Lasalle locals because doctors are very attentive and caring and the prices are lower than what you’d pay when visiting a hospital. You also get quick service, never having to wait too long to see a doctor.
- Dr. Amporn Clinic: Many locals in Lasalle also go to this clinic for minor ailments. Dr. Amporn has a reputation of being very compassionate with his clients. And many visitors appreciate that they don’t have to wait in long queues to see the doctor.
Dentists
Lasalle also has a number of dental clinics where you can go for teeth cleanings, fillings, root canals, and more.
- HiSmile Dental Clinic: My go-to dentist around Lasalle is HiSmile. Me and my family go to HiSmile for our teeth cleanings, and I once had a root canal there. I am always thoroughly impressed with the service and staff, who can all speak English.
- Idol Smile Dental Clinic: I can’t vouch for Idol Smile, as I’ve never been there. But it does get good reviews from customers and other expats have recommended it. Idol Smile staff’s strong points seem to be their English skills and gentle care.

Veterinarians
If your pet needs medical care or a health checkup, Lasalle has a few veterinarians.
- Animal Doctors International Hospital: The veterinarians at this animal hospital are known for being kind and compassionate. But the prices tend to be on the high side when compared to other veterinarians. A lot of its customers seem to be okay with this tradeoff, however.
- Love Pet Clinic: Love Pet is another regarded veterinarian in Lasalle. Many of the customers who visit the clinic like the fact that the doctor explains things in such great detail.
- Exopet Animal and Exotic Pet Clinic: If you have a pet other than a cat or dog, you can take it to Exopet. This clinic specializes in treating exotic pets such as lizards. And if they can’t treat your exotic animal, doctors will refer you to a hospital that can.

International Schools in Lasalle
- Bangkok Pattana School: Bangkok Pattana is one of Bangkok’s most prestigious international schools. It uses the IB curriculum and prides itself on its GCSE and IB diploma results. Keep in mind that tuition fees per child for Bantgkok Pattana could exceed 1 million Thai Baht per year.
- St. Andrews International School Sukhumvit 107: St. Andrews is another respected international school in Lasalle. Staff here focus on the individual needs of each student, as every child is assessed during the enrollment process. The school uses multiple curricula depending on the students’ ages. Tuition fees average around THB800,000 per year.
- Thai-Singapore International School: This international school uses the Singapore Curriculum and prides itself on its academic standards. They also work to install four core values in its student body — respect, integrity, care, and harmony. Thai-Singapore doesn’t post its tuition fees online, so you have to meet with one of the staff to get this info.

Parks Near Lasalle
Although Lasalle itself doesn’t have many parks worth writing about, there are a few nearby parks that you can get to in a matter of 10 to 15 minutes by car or taxi.
- King Rama IX Park: Rama IX Park is our favorite park in all of Bangkok, and for good reason. You can rent paddle boats and canoes here, ride bikes, walk through one of the many of its international gardens, or have a picnic by the lake. If you enter the park before 8:00 AM or after 5:00 PM, admission is free. All times outside of these hours, and you have to pay THB15 per person.
- Nong Bon Water Park: Nong Bon is another great park located right next to Rama IX Park. Here, you can rent bikes (if you don’t have your own) and ride around the lake. You can even sign up for a membership at THB300 per year for non-Thais and take part in its water sports.

Other Standout Venues and Features
Over the years I’ve come to know Lasalle like my own backyard. And there are plenty of places we like to hang out that might not stand out with one drive through the neighborhood.
- NET Playground: NET Playground is part of Lasalle’s Avenue and is free to enter for children and their parents. It’s elevated about 30 meters off the ground, which makes it quite the experience if you have a fear of heights. Just be sure to bring your own socks, otherwise you’ll have to pay for a pair.
- Thai Fight League: Thai Fight is one of the long-running entertainment Muay Thai venues in Thailand. Recently, they launched a weekly show that happens every Sunday night at 6:00 PM at Beat Active near BITEC, just a few minutes from Lasalle. If you’re looking for some excitement to end the week, you can’t go wrong with Thai Fight League.
- Medova Weekend Market: Medova isn’t the largest market around Lasalle, but it does have some food and ice cream trucks that are worth checking out. Here, you can grab a plate of food or an ice cream cone and take in the atmosphere.
Now, on to You
Offering a unique lifestyle in the suburbs of Bangkok, Lasalle is a great alternative to other popular places with expats, such as Thong Lor, Ekkamai, or On Nut.
That said, is it a good area for you to live in?
If you work at one of the nearby international schools or work from home, Lasalle could be a good place to live. But if you have to travel deeper into the city on a daily basis, then your transportation costs will start to add up if you travel in from Lasalle.
Travel costs aside, Lasalle offers a convenient lifestyle for both single expats and those raising families.
So, give a shot and see if this suburban destination is right for you.
