Is it Hard to Learn Bahasa Indonesia?
Bahasa Indonesia is considered an easy language to learn for English speakers for several reasons:
- Familiar Script: It uses the Latin script, similar to English, so you have an idea of how to pronounce each word without needing to learn a completely different script like Thai or Japanese.
- Simple Pronunciation: Pronunciation is straightforward. Each letter clearly represents a specific sound. As long as you understand how Bahasa Indonesia’s letters and vowels are pronounced, you won’t have any issues with pronunciation.
- Flexible Grammar: The grammar is flexible. You don’t always need to follow strict grammar rules. For example, sometimes you don’t even need to strictly follow the subject-verb-object pattern.
If you are a diligent learner, you should be able to use Bahasa Indonesia in your daily life within the first month of learning and speak fluently within nine months.
