Sloppy love overcomes the rain…
Rak Bpon Bpon is a sweet love song about a guy living on the street. He dreams of finding love, but from experience he knows that pretty women will not give him the time of day. Finally, he finds someone closer to his heart. A woman just like him.
Note: This is not a translation, but an interpretation I worked on during my Thai lessons (thanks for the heads up Hugh!) And as before, I am going with T2E’s transliteration scheme. It is not perfect, so do not depend on it 100% (get thee butts to reading the Thai script instead 😉

When I sent my interpretation to Hugh, he sent back the below:
Now can you see the rhymes in this song? ปอน in the first line rhymes with คน in the second line. ใจ in the second line rhymes with ไป in the third line. ไป in the third line rhymes with ไป in the fourth line. And ไป in the fourth line rhymes with ไม่ in the fifth, etc.

Martyn, I’m going to search out more of his music as it is quite pleasant. And I will try and remember to close my doors (no windows here) to keep my neighbours from either being annoyed or falling into screaming fits of hilarity.
My lessons are going great guns. I’m on a daily schedule no problem, so now I’m worried about boring everyone with the last two updates. But a deal is a deal, so I will.
Catherine I enjoyed the video and may their love last forever but walking on railway tracks may cut it short. There’s a karaoke restaurant not too far from Wi’s village and sometimes we go there for a bite. The Thai’s love their karaoke and it shows no signs of dying. Many times in the village I’ve heard distant booming voices that even with my untrained musical ear can tell the key isn’t quite in the door. Karaoke is a major entertainment source for the poor people of Thailand and long may it continue.
Hugh’s assessment and your joy points to the fact that your lessons are starting to bear fruit. Just remember to close the windows as everybody might not appreciate some of your more vocal language techniques.
Talen, seems that songs all over the world have the same theme running through them (whether they have a C&W background or not). Does Pookie or her friends have video on a phone or camera? If so, maybe she (with the help if needed) could send you clips until you are safely home.
Now you are making me pine away for Thailand…I miss going to the karaoke joint with Pookie and friends…I love the videos and I honestly don’t know why and they all have to do with lost love or findinng love right under your nose.
