Kao Taem: Hey beautiful. Where are you going, all dressed up?
สีสวาด: พี่ก้อยจะพาฉันไปประกวดนะสิ
Si Sawat: Well, P’ Goi is taking me to a contest.
เก้าแต้ม: ประกวดอะไรหรอ
Kao Taem: What contest?
สีสวาด: ประกวดแมวสวยสิจ๊ะ ต้องแสดงความสามารถด้วยนะ
Si Sawat: A cat beauty contest. You must show your talent too, you know?!
เก้าแต้ม: แมวที่มีความสามารถก็ต้องเป็นฉันสิ ฉันนั่นน่าจะเข้าประกวดประชันกับเขาบ้างน้า
Kao Taem: A cat with talent, then it’s gotta be me. I should be the one to enter the ‘bpra-guat bpra-chan’.
สีสวาด: ประกวดประขันจ้ะ ไม่ใช่ประกวดประชัน เธอนะพูดผิดซะเรื่อย
Si Sawat: It’s ‘bpra-guat bpra-kan’, not ‘bpra-guat bpra-chan’. You always say the wrong word.
เก้าแต้ม: พูดผิด พูดใหม่ก็ได้จ้ะ ประกวด ประกวดประขัน
Kao Taem: Say the wrong word…I can always say it again (with the right word), OK?! ‘Bpra-guat’ ‘bpra-guat bpra-kan’
สีสวาด: ประกวด หรือประกวดประขัน แปลว่าแข่งขันกัน เพื่อเลือกสิ่งที่ดีที่สุดหรือสวยที่สุด ส่วนประชันใช้สำหรับการแข่งการแสดงกันเช่นดนตรีสองวงเล่นประชันกันเพื่อดูว่าวงไหนจะมีคนชอบมากกว่ากัน
Si Sawat: ‘Bpra-guat’ or ‘bpra-guat bpra-kan’ means ‘(a) contest’ to pick the best or most beautiful thing whereas ‘bpra-chan’ is used for performance competition, for example two musical ensembles ‘bpra-chan’ against each other to see which ensemble is liked more by people.
