My Review and Experience on Smile Signature Dental Clinics: How a Simple Checkup Turned into Six Fillings

A few days ago, I suddenly noticed that my teeth felt sensitive after eating dried tomatoes. The sensitivity came from both of my upper molars, and it didn’t go away right away. That’s when I knew something wasn’t right and decided it was time to see a dentist.

Normally, I just go to a small clinic near my house for basic cleanings. But this time, I wanted to make sure I saw someone I could fully trust. I didn’t mind paying a little extra if it meant I’d be in good hands. Like most people, I hate going to the dentist. So if I had to go, I wanted the whole experience to be as painless as possible.

The first place that came to mind was Bangkok International Dental Center (BIDC). I’ve known them for a while and trust their reputation. But I live near Ramkhamhaeng, and going all the way to BIDC meant dealing with heavy Bangkok traffic. That’s when I remembered Smile Signature, a dental clinic chain managed by the same team behind BIDC.

Luckily, Smile Signature has a branch at Seacon Square Srinakarin, which is only a 15-minute drive from my house. I booked an appointment and decided to check it out.

In this review, I’ll walk you through my real experience, from booking the appointment to sitting in the dentist’s chair, and how what I thought would be a simple cleaning and a few fillings turned into six fillings.

I’ve known about Smile Signature for years. In fact, I even visited one of their Sukhumvit branches when they first opened, though I didn’t need any treatment at that time.

Smile Signature is one of the biggest dental clinic brands in Thailand, which gives them access to some of the country’s best dentists.

For example, at BIDC, many dentists are not only practitioners but also teach at dental schools. While Smile Signature dentists may not have the exact same qualifications, they are still highly skilled.

The dentist who treated me was excellent and, most importantly, made the process almost completely painless, which I will explain later in this article.

Clean and Modern Facilities

Even though my treatment wasn’t something complex like implants, I wanted to make sure the clinic was clean and equipped with modern tools. Good equipment helps dentists do their job better and makes the entire experience smoother for patients.

Convenient Location

One of the biggest reasons I didn’t go to BIDC was its location. While BIDC is easy to reach by MRT, my neighborhood doesn’t have any MRT stations nearby, and driving into the city is a nightmare because of traffic.

Smile Signature solved that problem by having multiple branches in suburban areas. The Seacon Square Srinakarin branch was perfect for me, just a short, easy drive away.

Checking Reviews Before My Visit

About an hour before my appointment, I decided to check the clinic’s Google reviews. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Smile Signature Seacon Square had an amazing 5-star rating from over 300 reviews.

That’s one of the highest ratings I’ve seen for a dental clinic in Bangkok. While there were a few complaints here and there, most of them were about the reception staff, nothing major that made me reconsider my decision.

Which Smile Signature Branch I Visited

I went to the Smile Signature branch at Seacon Square Srinakarin, located on the third floor of the mall. It’s a small clinic with a few treatment rooms and an X-ray room. Of course, the size isn’t huge, but that’s pretty normal for clinics inside department stores.

I didn’t have any special reason for choosing this branch other than the fact that it’s the closest one to where I live.

Another plus is that I really like Seacon Square itself. It’s a massive shopping mall with everything you need. On weekdays, I sometimes go there to work for the entire day. There are plenty of parking spaces, lots of places to sit and work, and free all-day parking.

This makes it very convenient. I can work, eat, shop, and get dental treatment all in one trip.

Visiting Smile Signature: My Step-by-Step Experience

Here’s what my visit to Smile Signature Seacon Square was like, from the moment I arrived until the treatment was done.

Arriving

I arrived about 15 minutes before my appointment time. After checking in, I was given a registration form to fill out.

The form was quite detailed and asked about my health history, such as whether I had any chronic diseases like diabetes or heart conditions, or if I was prone to fainting. It also asked for an emergency contact, which I thought was a nice touch.

Seeing the Dentist

After completing the form, I waited just a few minutes before being called in to see the dentist.

The dentist was a woman in her early thirties. She was dressed in full protective gear, including an N95 mask, face shield, shower cap, and gloves. The last time I saw a dentist wearing that level of protection was during the pandemic, and it gave me confidence that the clinic takes hygiene seriously.

Once I sat in the chair, I explained my symptoms. She examined my teeth and explained that my tooth sensitivity was caused by tooth wear.

I had always assumed the cause was brushing too hard, but surprisingly, she told me it was from chewing too hard instead. To help me understand, she showed me pictures and explanations from a medical website right on her computer screen.

I’ve been to many dentists before, but this was the first time someone took the time to explain things in such detail. It really impressed me.

X-Ray

Next, the dentist sent me to the X-ray room, which was conveniently located right across from the treatment room.

The whole process only took a few minutes, and the results were sent directly to the dentist’s computer. This made the entire experience seamless and quick.

Filling

The X-ray showed that I needed five fillings on my upper molars on both sides. For some of them, the dentist had to remove old fillings and replace them with new ones.

The experience was surprisingly comfortable. Even though it involved five fillings, I didn’t feel any pain at all during the procedure. There was some mild sensitivity, which is completely normal for fillings, but it was very manageable.

All five fillings were completed in under an hour, which I thought was impressive.

Note: I had another very small area of tooth wear. Instead of drilling it right away, the dentist suggested trying a conservative approach first by using toothpaste designed to reduce sensitivity. I appreciated this approach since it showed she wasn’t pushing unnecessary treatment.

Cleaning

Since I was already there, I also asked for a routine cleaning. Surprisingly, the cleaning was more uncomfortable than the fillings, though still tolerable. The whole cleaning process was done in about 10 minutes.

The Sixth Filling: An Unexpected Find

Here’s where my visit took an unexpected turn.

While cleaning my teeth, the dentist noticed a small brown stain on one of my lower molars. It was an area that had been filled a few years ago. I’d never had any pain or sensitivity there, and even during my last cleaning a few months ago, no other dentist mentioned it.

The dentist asked if I wanted to get it checked out. At first, I hesitated since I had already been in the chair for about an hour. But I decided to go ahead with it, and I’m glad I did.

It turned out there was a large hidden cavity under the old filling. If I hadn’t treated it, it could have led to a root canal later, which would have been far more painful and expensive.

The treatment itself was very quick, taking less than 10 minutes, and I barely felt any pain or sensitivity. It was a relief to have caught the problem early.

Prices

Before my visit, I checked Smile Signature’s website to get an idea of the prices. Here’s what I found:

• Small X-ray: THB 200
  
• Cleaning: THB 1,500
  
• Filling: THB 1,000 per tooth

The final bill I paid matched these prices exactly, with just a few hundred baht extra for sterilization and anesthesia. I didn’t even realize the dentist had applied anesthesia until later, which explains why I barely felt any pain throughout the entire treatment.

Compared to the smaller clinics near my home, Smile Signature is a bit more expensive. For example, I usually pay around THB 1,000 for cleaning and THB 800 per tooth for fillings at those neighborhood clinics.

However, the experience at Smile Signature was better. For a little more money, I received:

• A completely smooth, nearly painless experience, even with six fillings and a cleaning
• Detailed explanations about my condition, with visuals and clear communication
• A dentist who was skilled enough to detect a hidden cavity that other clinics missed
• Fillings that look completely natural and solved my sensitivity issues, even when I ate an entire ice cream right after the treatment

For me, those benefits are worth the extra cost.

If you compare these prices with branded clinics or clinics inside department stores, Smile Signature’s rates are actually quite reasonable. Some other dental clinics even charge more for the same treatments.

For me, those benefits and peace of mind are well worth the extra cost.

Am I Happy With the Experience?

Absolutely. Even though it was slightly more expensive than local street clinics, the entire experience was far better. The most important thing for me was that I barely felt any pain, which made the visit much less stressful.

The fillings also looked completely natural and worked perfectly. I didn’t feel any tooth sensitivity afterward, even when I ate an entire ice cream right after the treatment.

I just remembered that the last time I had a filling on my lower molar at another clinic, I had to go back for a follow-up because I had trouble chewing. This time, everything was done so well that I didn’t have any problems at all.

The support staff were also professional and friendly, which added to the positive experience.

Do I Feel Pain During the Treatment?

I’d be lying if I said there was zero pain. There were a few moments of discomfort, but nothing intense. To put it in perspective, a Thai would say that an ant bite hurts more than this.

The dentist also explained everything before starting each step. For example:

• Before cleaning my teeth, she told me there would be a lot of water so I wouldn’t be caught off guard.
• Before drilling, she warned me there might be some sensitivity so I could mentally prepare.

She also told me to raise my hand if I felt pain or needed a break. Luckily, I never needed to do that.

Is It a Comfortable Experience?

Of course, having dental tools in your mouth isn’t exactly comfortable, but overall it went very smoothly. After about 10 minutes, I got used to it and felt much more relaxed. The dentist’s clear communication and calm approach made a big difference.

Can the Dentist Speak English?

Yes, the dentist can speak English. While I personally spoke with her in Thai, the documents she showed me and the medical website she used to explain my condition were all in English.

The dentist who treated me previously worked at BIDC but decided to move to the Srinakarin branch because she was tired of dealing with the heavy traffic in the city.

The clinic also serves many foreigners. Srinakarin is something of an underrated neighborhood in Bangkok, with many expat families living there because it’s more affordable and peaceful than the city center. There are also several good international schools nearby.

What I Didn’t Like

The experience this time was very smooth, so I really have nothing to complain about.

If there’s one minor issue, it would be the location. The branch I visited is inside Seacon Square, which is a huge shopping mall. It took me a while to find the exact spot.

Also, during the cleaning, I did feel some discomfort and sensitivity, but that’s pretty common for this type of treatment.

If you plan to visit, I recommend asking for the exact location inside the mall beforehand so you don’t waste time wandering around.

Should You Make an Appointment in Advance?

Yes, you should.

Walk-ins are possible, but I highly recommend booking an appointment beforehand. This clinic isn’t like BIDC’s seven-story building. It’s a smaller clinic with only a few treatment rooms.

If you don’t book in advance, you might end up waiting a long time. My entire treatment took about 1.5 hours, and that was with a prior appointment.

Also, if you need specialized care beyond basic procedures, keep in mind that not all specialists are there every day.

One thing I really like about this clinic group is that they have many locations, both in Bangkok and other parts of Thailand. This makes it easy to find a branch that’s close to where you live or work, so you don’t have to deal with heavy traffic or long travel times.
